Current Features

BetterAWStats can do everything AWStats can do for displaying statistics. In addition there are numerous features to improve the data display. Some of those features are listed here.

Multi-site data

If the path to the datafile has the files of several sites in it, all those sites can be viewed in BetterAWStats.

All Sites Data

If there is data for more than one site, the monthly and daily history can be show for all sites at the same time.

Rolling months

Months data chart & table now end in the selected month and show the previous x months instead of showing only the current year Jan-Dec.You can extend the 12 months backwards view to any number of months.

Rolling days

If the current month is not finished, the daily data shows the last days from the last month. The total amount of days shown is equal to the current month's number of days.

Pages & Hits have independent scale

In AWstats, the pages charts are scaled as a 1:1 to hits. So a website with 10 images on each page would show a one-pixel high pages-bar and a 10 pixel high hits-bar for one view of a page. If you have more images (in your layout etc), the pages bar becomes too small to show any information. BetterAWStats gives each bar its own scale, depending on the maximum value over the given timespan.

Weekday data as average

In AWstats, data for each weekday (Mo, Tue...) would be summed up. So a month with 5 Mondays would have more hits on Mondays than for its 4 Tuesdays. By building the average per weekday in BetterAWStats, you can see better how much more people come on Mondays to your site, independent how many Mondays that one month has. Also, being in the middle of the current month has less impact due to the fact that one Monday on the end of the month did not add any data to that month.

Number of Visits per Weekday

Although this data is available, AWstats would not show it. BetterAWstats does!

Sort for any value

All tables that show non-date related numbers are sortable for any key in the config editor

Hotlinks

Refererrs that are generating hits w/o calling any pages are listed in a separate statistic.

Referrer & Hotlinks by Domain

Referrers and Hotlinks are additionally shown by domain to reduce the clutter in data generated by small differences in referring URLs.

Map for domains

A graphical map is included that shows the world with the amount of hits/pages (requires GD2-enabled PHP)

Valid HTML/XHTML strict, valid CSS

You can switch between HTML and XHTML output and both as well as the CSS are validating according to the W3C standards

Features already in CVS

Cache System

With the help of a database backend, the software can store all the output screens until the datafile is updated. This reduces loading time and memory requirements tremendously. It does not, however reduce loading time and memory limit for first-time reading of data.

XML File data

AWStats can produce raw text and XML data files. currently those cannot be read by BetterAWStats.

URLAlias Support

This is the URLAlias function that AWStats provides.

Time-charts for any item

You will be able to see how a browser, a search engine, a url etc developed over time and compare it with other items of same type.

FTP/Mailserver logfiles

You will be able to analyze FTP & Mailserver logfiles in the same way as you can now with webserver logfiles.
